Sence Valley “Goss Water”
Location
Ibstock, Coalville.
General description
…Where to start!
1. It’s very deep.
2. There’s rocks/snags down there the size of a van.
3….Chuck in some weed in a few places and you’ve got the idea!
Anyone that moans about the “Top Pond” over at Wiggs Farm not being enough of a challenge should love this place! 😂
With an “open” inlet/outlet that is fed by the River Sence it’s basically a large basin for the river…. so you can expect the same species, and the same good/bad days that you can have when river fishing.
A beautiful spot with a truly “natural” feel to it – there’s some big Chub, Roach, Bream and massive Pike amongst other specimens to target. A proper PB venue if you can stick it out…
Apparently(?!) there is/was big carp in there also…?
It’s one of those marmite waters. Very deep, uncomfortable pegs, plenty of pedestrians, cormorants-a-plenty… but a good day down there is EARNED and folks that fancy a challenge will love it!
KEEPNETS NOW ALLOWED FOR PLEASURE SESSIONS AT GOSS WATER (SENCE VALLEY)
Best pegs are probably those around the inlet/outlets to the lake. Perhaps try regularly spraying casters shallow for Chub/Roach.
Bare in mind this is a nature reserve and as such the fishing is done off “natural bank”… no creature comforts here!
Feeder tactics have apparently worked well with 10-20lb bags of bream, chub and roach recorded on a few sessions. Try and find a clear patch.
