Bagworth Heath – Main Pond
Ashby Angling Club, and Bagworth & District Angling Club joined forces halfway through the 2020/2021 season and already it seems to be a mutually beneficial partnership between the two parties.

Since the merger;
*New platforms/pegs and steps have been installed.
*Access slope near the car park has been installed, enabling far easier access to the pond (especially for those with trollies, barrows etc).
*A bridge at the far side of the lake has been installed which is proving popular with both pedestrians as well as anglers and bailiffs when roving round the pond(s).
*A full stock survey has been undertaken, with some fish moved over from the stock pond on site (mainly big Perch and Crucians).
*285lb of new Bream (2lb-3lb) introduced.
*650lb of new carp (2lb-10lb) introduced.
…plus some Tench and Crucians that were added to the “Sandmartin Pool” (see seperate page for more info on that particular water).
Plans are in place to extend the hard standing car park during the 2021/2022 season also.

John Brearley, who was integral in the inception and setting up of Bagworth AC has a memorial bench on site, adorned with the quote “I’m watching you carry on fishing” as it overlooks the pond.
We are hoping to introduce an annual juniors match in his name from this season onwards.

We are also hoping to have a ladies “open” match dedicated to Mary Brearley, John’s wife, who helped run the club for many years.
